Today at Hart Pass, Okanogan County, Washington, quite a few birders including me were chasing a glimpse of a Northern Hawk Owl. It had been found several days before by Khanh Tran and Tom Mansfield.
On the way up, this grouse was in the road. I was able to get one good picture before it disappeared behind a bush.
The real prize was right next to the road when I got to the right location. Three birders were there to point it out to me. I watched it for about half an hour before it flew away. Here are a few pictures that I took of it:
